Ideas to Ponder: "The God Delusion!"

| "Science is the discipline of investigation and constructive doubt, questing the logic, evidence and conclusion. Faith by stark contrast demand positive suspension of critical faculties..."

One of Einstein's most eagerly quoted remarks is 'Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.' But Einstein also said,

'It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.'

Does it seem that Einstein contradicted himself? That his words can be cherry-picked for quotes to support both sides of an argument? No. By 'religion' Einstein meant something entirely different from what is conventionally meant.

So, what is religion? How do we define GOD? Simply put, God is what we believe, and when these believe stand the testimony of time (thousands of years...), they become unquestionable facts! Are we living with the God Delusion? The answer seems to be yes. The purpose with which the religion was created has changed over the period of time. Watch this video:

|"My conclusion is that there is no reason to believe any of the dogmas of traditional theology and, further, that there is no reason to wish that they were true. Man, in so far as he is not subject to natural forces, is free to work out his own destiny. The responsibility is his, and so is the opportunity."
-- Bertrand Russell, "Is There a God?"

Watch this interview of Bertrand Russell:
|"It has been said that man is a rational animal. All my life I have been searching for evidence which could support this."
-- Bertrand Russell, from from "An Outline of Intellectual Rubbish" in the collection, Unpopular Essays

Man by nature is not a rational animal, rather he is a rationalizing animal. He can rationalize every argument the way he wants. And if we closely observe our own behavior, we will find its a hard fact!
